Loved the beach view from the top especially. Couldn't go into the castle as it is closed for some work. But loved the scenery. See images below.
Nice castle with sad story next to the Firth of forth. Parking is free.
Nice castle but it was all fenced off, and you can't access anything. You can walk around the side of it and climb up some steps to look at the back of it, but that's also fenced off.
Loved the beach walk there from Dysart Harbor. Was able to access in the back, as front was closed. Met 2 grounds keepers but they were ok with it. Please be respectful and don’t litter.
Such a great place to explore! Ample parking, and a big playground for the wee ones; park has loads of paved trails for pushing prams or just strolling about. Head to the right to explore the castle ruins, and be sure to walk the beach which is filled with old turrets and sections of stone wall. Fantastic rocks for collecting along the shore, too! Follow the path away from the castle to the colorful, immensely photogenic harbor of Dysart. A stellar day out for all ages and abilities!
It was looking rather overgrown and wild. Of course nothing much has been done for quite some time. The council are not interested any more. You can no longer gain access inside as it is in a dangerous state of repair. However some new steps have been put in going down to the moat which is an improvement.
Ruins of castle, there is access through but most inner areas have been gated. There is access to the beach below from walking down from the land ward entrance and below the eastern side of the castle. There are signs around giving information on the history of the castle.
Beautiful view. Not crowded, trail down to the beach a bit treacherous especially on a misty day. Would love to have explored inside the ruins but understand why we couldnt. Must have been beautiful back in its time.
